The internal pages of your website provide in-depth information about a particular topic or story.
Beyond a website’s homepage are its internal pages. Internal pages make up the framework of a site, organized in a hierarchical structure of parent and child pages that is represented in the site’s navigation menus. This makes pages ideal for relatively static content like “About,” “Our Initiatives” or “Get Involved.”
Internal pages may also act as containers for more dynamic content, like blog and news posts, events or people profiles.

Submenus in right sidebar
In the WashU Web Theme, internal pages (like this one!) may include a submenu in the right sidebar, which lists child pages within the section of the site that a visitor is viewing. (On a mobile device, the submenu doesn’t display on the page. Instead, the links are rolled up into the site menu found in the upper right.)
Adjustable page width
By default, the content area of a page in the WashU Web Theme is 760 pixels wide (on a desktop), allowing space for a submenu on the right. You can switch a page to display full-width, at 940 pixels, instead. Full-width displays are ideal for design-heavy pages like the homepage. In contrast, text-heavy pages like this one aren’t much fun at full-width, since longer line lengths are difficult to read. (45 to 85 characters per line is considered ideal for legibility.)
Flexible layouts
The theme’s block editor makes it easy to drag and drop billboards, cards, videos, images and other content blocks to create custom layouts on any page on your site.
