Update pages or posts you've already saved as drafts or published.

Update pages or posts you've already saved as drafts or published.

The way you edit an existing page or post will depend on whether or not you’ve Tailored it.

Option A

  • While logged into your website, navigate to the page or post you are editing
  • At the top of the page, choose Edit this

Option B

  • Go to Dashboard > content type you are editing (Pages, Posts, Events, People, Places or Items)
  • You’ll see a list of all pages or posts in that content type, including drafts that haven’t been published yet
  • Click the title of the page or post you’re editing

After making your changes, go to the Publish box in the top right corner and click Update, Save Draft or Publish.

Tailored pages and posts

Decide what you're editing

Even if you’ve Tailored a page or post, some fields and attributes can be changed only from the default Edit mode, rather than in Tailor.

“Edit” mode

These are the fields that, when first setting up a page or post, appear at the top of the page and along the right side of the screen.

To update these fields, you need to Edit the page or post in the default editor:

  • Title
  • URL
  • Brief description
  • Excerpt
  • Categories
  • Tags
  • Featured image
  • Page attributes / parent page
If you change a page’s parent, the URL will change and any links to that page will break. Remember to update all links, and set a redirect for good measure.
  • Date published
  • Page status (draft, published, etc.)

“Tailor” mode

If you need to update the body content of a page that has already been edited in Tailor, click Tailor in Step 2.

Find the page or post

Option A

  • While logged into your website, navigate to the page or post you are editing.
  • Click Edit or Tailor in the black admin bar at the top of the page, depending on what you want to update. (See list in Step 1 above.)

Option B

  • Go to Dashboard > content type you are editing (Pages, Posts, Events, People, Places or Items).
  • You’ll see a list of all pages or posts in that content type, including drafts that haven’t been published yet.
  • Hover over the page or post title in the list and click Edit or Tailor underneath it, depending on what you want to update. (See list in step 1 above.)
  • If you accidentally click on the page title, you can click on either option, Edit or Tailor, in the black admin bar at the top of the page

Update, save, publish

Changes made in Tailor

To save changes made in Tailor, click the blue Save or Save & Publish button at the top of the Tailor panel on the left side of the screen.

If the page has already been published, the blue button will say Save & Publish. Click this, and your changes go live!

If the button just says Save, you still need to publish the page:

  • Click Save, then click the black X in the top left corner to return to the default WordPress page editor.
  • From there, you can click Publish in the top right corner.

Changes made in the default WordPress editor

To save changes made in the default WordPress editor, go to the Publish box in the top right corner and click UpdateSave Draft or Publish.
